1. A Mistake at the Station
Matthew Cuthbert drives to Bright River to collect the orphan boy he and his sister Marilla have sent for. When a chatterbox red-haired girl steps off the train instead, nothing goes quite as planned, and Marilla must decide what to do about the mistake.
2. Kindred Spirits
Anne settles into life at Green Gables, clashes spectacularly with Mrs. Rachel Lynde, makes her first best friend in Diana Barry, and lands in serious trouble over Marilla's missing amethyst brooch.
3. Broken Slates and Currant Wine
Anne's first year at Avonlea school brings a cracked slate over Gilbert Blythe's head, an accidental glass of currant wine that gets Diana sent home dizzy, and a midnight emergency at the Barry house with no grown-ups to help.
4. Puffed Sleeves and Liniment Cakes
Anne frightens herself half to death in the Haunted Wood, flavors a cake for the minister's wife with liniment, accepts a dare to walk the Barry kitchen ridgepole, and goes into Christmas hoping for one long-dreamed-of gift.
5. The Pass List
Anne dyes her red hair green, nearly drowns playing Elaine on the pond, joins the Queen's class under Miss Stacy, studies for the Entrance exam, and waits breathlessly to see if her name is on the pass list.
6. The Bend in the Road
Anne leaves Green Gables for Queen's Academy in Charlottetown. A year of hard study with Gilbert Blythe at her heels leads to exam day. Then a homecoming that will test everything she has learned about what she wants.
